Zheng Music

Zheng Music is an ensemble founded by Janet Chow Lai-kuen, Iu Yan, Chin King et al in 2006. The young zheng players are all graduates of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Since its founding, the group has co-organised concerts with many renowned virtuosi in guzheng, such as Sun Wenyan, Wang Zhongshan, He Zhanhao, Xu Lingzi, Luo Jing, Fan Yifeng et al. It was one of the organisers of the first International Guzheng Symposium in 2014, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. 

The junior and adult groups of Zheng Music have made many outstanding achievements. Members of the groups have been elected as RTHK Radio 4 Young Music Makers; won the gold award for guzheng ensemble at the Dunhuang Cup in Macao; and were selected by The Hong Kong Commission on Youth’s Hong Kong Youth Scheme for cultural exchange in Tokyo. The adult group has won the gold award at the Chinese Arts Festival Music Competition, while the junior group has also won the gold award at the Seventh International Zheng Contest Hong Kong Regional Competition.
