Song and Dance Music of the Dong Ethnic Minority Group:
The Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe of Rongjiang
A riveting musical experience of the exotic and the contemporary, this concert features the music and dance of China’s ethnic minority groups, such as the ‘Grand Song’ (choral singing) of the Dong’s of Guizhou (which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), the pipaaccompanied singing of the Dong’s of Chejiang, the lusheng dance of the Miao’s etc., performed with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra on stage. This dialogue between the ethnic and the modern, the vernacular and the orchestral delivers the Orchestra’s mission to perpetuate esoteric cultures by putting them on the world stage.

Tickets are available on 16-Aug-2011.
