Shi Shucheng

Shi Shucheng is a famous pianist and conductor from China, accredited as National Class One Performer. He is among the first batch of artists in China to receive the highly honoured "Government Special Allowance" presented by the State Council. Shi has given more than one thousand concerts in over a hundred cities around the globe, having collaborated with the world’s celebrated soloists, conductors and symphony orchestras over the years.

Shi is one of the composers of the piano concerto, Yellow River, and was assigned by the CNSO in 1989 to revise the piece. He was both soloist and conductor in the subsequent recording which was described by a critic overseas as "the most outstanding and definitive interpretation of the work."

Shi has twice won the accolade as "Outstanding Expert" (1981 and 1991) from the Ministry of Culture in China. He is listed as the first "Steinway & Sons Artist" from mainland China in the Who's Who in the World records of the American Biographical Institute and the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge.
