Shan Wen

An outstanding young Kunqu performer, Shan Wen studied under the tutelage of the acclaimed Kunqu artist Zhang Jiqing. She holds a professorship at Nanjing University School of Arts, and has received several awards for her contribution to Kunqu opera, including winner of the 29th Chinese Magnolia Award and winner of the ‘Outstanding Young Performer’ award at the 5th National Kunqu Opera Festival. She has also been named as an ‘Outstanding Expert’ by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and served as a representative of the 17th Congress of the Communist Youth League of China. 

Her repertoire includes major works such as 1969 Peach Blossom Fan, Peony Pavilion, The Palace of Eternal Life, Six Records of a Floating Life, The Dream of the Red Chamber, A Dream Under the Southern Bough, Romeo and Juliet, and The Western Chamber.
