Ng Kit Wing

Principal Pipa of the Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra, Ng joined the orchestra in 2018. She commenced her pipa studies at age 6 under the tutelage of Li Ping and is currently taught by Zhang Ying. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra and the Yue Pipa Ensemble.


In 2023 she was awarded a Pipa Grade 9 Certificate from the Central Conservatory of Music; in 2022, she participated in a pipa masterclass organised by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau, where she received guidance from members of the HKCO pipa section. In recent years, she has won the Pipa Solo Advanced and Senior categories at the Hong Kong Schools Festival. She has also received numerous scholarships and accolades, including the HKCO Chow Fan-fu Music Scholarship, the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Grant for Talented Students in Non-academic Fields, and Outstanding Member of the Island Youth Chinese Orchestra.


Ng has made numerous orchestral and solo appearances – recent performances have included two concerts with the Yue Pipa ensemble in December 2023 and January 2024, a performance of the duet Spring on a Moonlit River at the Cantonese Opera Day organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in November 2023, a solo performance of King Chu Doffs His Armour at the ‘Making of Musicians’ concert organised by the Music Office in January 2023, and orchestral performances with the Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra at the ‘Preservation and Perpetuation of the Classics’ concerts in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
