Mui Kwong-chiu

Dr. Mui Kwong-chiu is the Chairman of Hong Kong Composers’ Guild (HKCG), the Director of Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong, member of China Musicians Association, the Artistic Director of the World Dulcimer Orchestra. In 2020 he was awarded ‘The 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Award Artist of the Year (Music)’ by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. For his achievements in music and contribution to Hong Kong society, he was awarded the Hong Kong Baptist University Distinguished Communication Alumni Award celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018.  


Dr. Mui’s works include: Shakuhachi for the Crane Dance Suite for the Hong Kong Cultural Festival, The composer/director of the Cross media beach concert for Hong Kong Youth Festival in 2018; Composer of Cross media Chinese Music Theatre Intoxicating Nature and Ode to Water for the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra; Double Concerto for Piano and Flute for The Great Earth; Reincarnation of the Prunus Mume for the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre; Spring Ritual and Eulogy for Hong Kong Dance Company, Symphonic Poem Genesis. He represents HKCG to attend International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM), and he composes music themes for Radio Television Hong Kong TV programs. He is the author of the two test pieces for the Chromatic Harmonica and Tremolo harmonica category in APHF in 2021 in China.
