A champion challenge to creative drumming in an exciting annual gala
The Hong Kong Synergy 24 Drum Competition, an annual event eagerly anticipated by the local community, is into its 14th season this year! In good old tradition, the HKCO invites drum enthusiasts from all over Hong Kong for a roaring champion challenge. Like before, there will be two sets of Synergy 24 routines, and participants are welcome to pepper them up with highly original choreographic moves. In particular, the Creative Presentation Section is open to all, so why not present your uniquely conceived versions of lion dance drumming, Japanese drums, African drums, etc.? Let energy spill over with every mallet hit you wield! The Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza will be a roaring sea of drums, bespeaking the indomitable spirit typical of the people of Hong Kong! The winning teams will have the opportunity to perform with the HKCO in the 'Ode to Water' concert in May, 2017.
Notes
1. Each school/organization may have more than one team participating in the event, but constituent members in each must be different. (Except for Creative Presentation Section and ‘King of Drums’ Challenge)
2. Each participating team may choose any combination of Chinese drums, regardless of size and type. However, only Chinese drums may be used. Drums of any other ethnic origins will not be accepted. (Except for Special School and Rehabilitation Organization Section, Senior Section, Creative Presentation Section and ‘King of Drums’ Challenge)
3. Participating teams may design their own costumes, group formations and staging of their performance, subject to the final approval of the HKCO.
4. All participating teams should submit the newly arranged scores to the Organizer 2 weeks before the competition for their reference. (Except for Designated Repertoire Section)
5. The Organizer reserves the right not to give out awards in a category if the panel of judges has decided that none of the entries has met the required standard. The Organizer has the final authority to determine whether an entry is eligible or not.
** The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant/participating team for violation of the above.

2. Accuracy in tempo
3. Uniformity in movement
4. Dynamics
5. Creativity as demonstrated in the group formation, costume design and staging

How to Register
1. Completed Registration Forms should be submitted with a registration fee of HK$300 (to be EITHER in the form of a cheque made payable to "Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra Limited" OR by direct deposit into the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra's banking account at Hang Seng Bank: 388-487-688-001).
2. Please send your Registration Form together with your cheque or pay-in slip by mail or in person to: The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, 7th Floor, Sheung Wan Municipal Services Building, 345 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong.
3. Music scores and video demonstrations for both versions of Hong Kong Synergy 24 Drumming Routines (in VCD format) and the New Hong Kong Synergy 24 Drumming Routines (in DVD format) will be available from the Organizer. If needed, teams performing the Compulsory Scores of Rolling Walnuts, The Ox Fighting the Tiger and Flying Dragon and Leaping Tiger may request for the relevant scores from the Organizer.
