2004 Valentine’s Day Concert Series
Proverbs of Love

Wise words about loving and
being loved

This is how Lo Tai-yu describes love in his song, Proverbs of Love:
Love is something no one understands, love is a song for the twelfth of never.
Love has been you and me.
I have given you the springs, and kept for myself the winters,
I have kept the memory of your back to myself, but given you myself instead.

Guests appearing in this concert will be Huang Hongying#, also known as "Teresa Tang of Guangdong", who has a firm following of fans after the success of The First Time I Tasted Loneliness; and violinist Sha Xiaocao, who was described thus: "the purity and beauty of her sound left the audience speechless"*. The young musicians will be touching thousands of hearts with their voice or violin at the Valentine's Day Concert Series, Proverbs of Love. Make it a lovers’ rendezvous and let your heart melt away with song and music.

# Huang Hongying's album The First Time I Tasted Loneliness was available in CD, SACD, XRCD and the nostalgic "black record" formats (the last being remixed in Japan). She may well be the first Chinese female singer to have four formats released of the same recording.

* Chen Gang, one of the composers of the famous Butterfly Lovers Concerto, said this of Sha Xiaocao on hearing her perform another violin concerto by the same composer, Wang Zhaojun.
