(Road of Huqin III)
Five Huqins in Concert
New sounds that recreate the history,
legendary figures and lost sceneries of China
|
 |
This is a concert
in which you will hear the three most popular types of huqin (Chinese
two-stringed fiddle) - the jinghu, the banhu and the erhu together;
This is a concert
in which you will see and hear the amazing techniques of contemporary
huqin artists - techniques that deserve no better description than "artistry
at its best";
This is a concert
in which five huqin virtuosi from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong come together
to make music;
And the man behind
all this is Bian Zushan, one of the rare few Chinese conductors whose
baton has led full-length ballets, symphony orchestras and Chinese orchestras.
He led the combined orchestra of China Broadcasts National Music Orchestra
and the Swiss National Symphony Orchestra in the premiere of a piece written
specially for the occasion by a Swiss composer.
# Although
the titles of the huqin tunes may appear to be rather unfamiliar, the
music would not.
