Lin Yingshi

Awarded with a full scholarship, LinYingshi graduated from The Chinese Opera School of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2011, and was appointed the principal huadan (actress) of The HKAPA Young Cantonese Opera Troupe since its inception until 2018. At the same time, she was a tutor in Applied Learning Course and the first instructor of the Global Online Cantonese Opera Program of The HKAPA.

Lin has been under the tutelage of two renowned Cantonese opera virtuosi, Zheng Peiying and Ni Huiying.

Between 2004 and 2007, Lin was a multiple winner in various singing contests in China, including the ‘All China Award for Star Vocalists’, ‘Star of Tomorrow of China’, ‘Four Seas Cup Cantonese Opera Singing for Guangzhou/Hong Kong/Macau’, ‘Guangdong Provincial Musicians’ Association Gold Award’, ‘Grand Prix for Artists from the Film, Television and Singing Industries’ organized by the Guangdong Southern Television, etc. She was also awarded a scholarship at the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in Beijing.

Lin has been on the main cast of several Cantonese operas, including Princess Changping, The Peony Pavilion, The Taming of the Shrew, The Legend of the White Snake, etc., as well as the lead actress in The Pavilion of Hundred Flowers of the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2018 and 2019. Between 2006 and 2019, Lin had performed in a number of touring productions around the world, and attracted compliments in U.S.A., Canada, U.K., Australia, Singapore, Taiwan and Macau, as well as various cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Lin is also active in community activities and in cross-discipline performances. She has several recordings in her discography. She is currently Chairperson of Alis Arts Centre.
