Four Gig Heads Percussion Group

Four Gig Heads Percussion Group was formed by young percussionists of Hong Kong in 1998, with the purpose of promoting percussion music of both East and West, historical and present, through the composition and arrangement of works for the genre. The ultimate aims are to develop percussion culture, expand new dimensions for music and broaden the artistic panorama of Hong Kong.

Four Gig Heads has often been invited to take part in various types of cultural functions in Hong Kong and other parts of the world. Notable occasions included the 3rd ‘Cheonan-Gakwon International Temple Music (BumEum) Festival’ (2008); ‘Lifestyle Expo in Istanbul’ (2014), at which the group represented Hong Kong and performed new arrangements of fusion music throughout the days of the event in Turkey; and percussion performance at the ‘Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade’ (2009 and 2014).

The group formed MIHK@4GH in 2007 which brought together young musicians keenly interested in percussion art under the supervision of Four Gig Heads’ Music Director, Angus Fu, in a bid to improve through interactive learning, exchange and professional training. The ultimate goal is to build a platform of quality music and groom successors.
