The Orchestra
joins hands with the music departments of the universities in Hong Kong
and the Hong Kong Composers' Guild to invite local composers to submit
their compositions in Chinese music on the theme of "Know Your Chinese
Music, Know Your Hong Kong". Outreach concerts that are educational
in nature are organised for schools and community centres. The audience
response is then recorded and opinions are collected to serve as benchmarks
for choosing music with mass appeal. The result? It's "Music from
