I am delighted to be elected as the Council Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra for the new session. Since the corporatisation in 2001, the Orchestra has made many outstanding achievements with the support and encouragement of Ms Carlye Tsui, the immediate past Council Chairman, members of the Council, the SAR Government, the community, and our audiences in Hong Kong and overseas.

The Council and the Orchestra will continue to work closely to bring more Chinese music programmes with high quality and diversity to the Hong Kong citizens.

We will continue to work towards the goals as laid down in our mission statement: to strive for the peak in music and attain the status of a world-class orchestra that is the pride of the people of Hong Kong.
