| 馬友友首次與香港中樂團的合作，緣定於閻惠昌2004年英國之旅。經過四年精心的籌備，為觀眾帶來前所未有的驚喜。樂團特別委約國際著名作曲家趙季平為馬友友及香港中樂團創作大提琴協奏曲《莊周夢》，加上李滄桑新編曲《十面埋伏》大提琴版，於音樂會作世界首演。與馬友友合作無間的絲路合奏團成員吳彤（笙）、李暉（琵琶）及劉麟（結他）亦將特別參與演出，絕對是不能錯過的現代民族音樂新體驗。 |

The idea of joining hands in a concert between Yo-Yo Ma and the HKCO came about in 2004, when Artistic Director Yan Huichang, was on tour to the UK. After four years of meticulous planning, the concert is finally underway, and the news guarantees to be a wonderful surprise for our music fans. The Orchestra has commissioned the famous composer, Zhao Jiping, to write a new work, Zhuang Zhou's Dream - Concerto for cello and orchestra for Ma and the HKCO in their first ever collaboration. The programme also features a new arrangement for Ambush on All Sides for cello by Li Cangsang. Also sharing the stage in this concert will be members of the Silk Road Ensemble including Wu Tong (Sheng), Li Hui (Pipa) and Liu Lin (Guitar) which have been working closely with Ma for many years.
